TKAM #7

Dear Diary,
I am still sad since about my husband death, because I knew my husband wasn’t guilty of anything and they don’t like Tom because of his color. I read the newspaper that Mr. Underwood wrote, and I cry very time I read the newspaper. I am very scared to tell my children, that their father is dead, because I don’t want them to cry every night like I do because I miss him very much. The only thing I can do for Tom is pray for him, because I know he doesn’t want to be like this, he wants to be with his family and friends and help people when they need it. My friends and family from church helped me out to get back on my feet again since the death of my husband. Atticus and his kids comforted me and told me it’s going to be okay, because he didn’t do nothing wrong and he was an innocent man to us and your church. I cry every time when someone brings up Tom name so I had to turn to my reverend about this whole situation going on right now. He told me that the best thing I could do is pray and talk to Tom in my prayers and let him talk back to me. I also told the Reverend that has to tell my kids about the situation because they have to know someday. I just can’t take it because it is hard for me to tell the kids what’s happening right now.

The next afternoon I went to work and I saw this shadow, until I turned around and it look like a man’s body and it was Bob Ewell following me every time I was walking. He was farther away from me but he was still following me either way, Link Deas had seen me and Bob Ewell assessment me and told Bob if he keeps following me then he’s going to arrested Bob. People don’t need that in Maycomb, because no one should feel that way here and it’s like people give me the stink eye when I walk in maycomb since my color isn’t white. I just want to walk anywhere not feeling like someone is going to do something to me since I’m not white. I knew Bob was trying to kill me and other people as well because since he got my husband, he was after me and trying to kill me since he doesn’t like colored people. I noticed I have friends helping me out getting Bob since he is evil and all he wants everything going his way and he doesn’t care about anyone but himself.


I noticed that I have to make a change in this town, because I think everyone is living in fear and scared that people is going to kill them. It was night and it was time for Halloween and my kids went to go trick or treating with some of their friends. Scout and Jem went house to house to get candy since it was Halloween, and they noticed that a guy was trying to give them a ride. They didn’t even know who the person was so they kept walking, but when they told me this I noticed that the only person who could do that was Bob Ewell, but the other people didn’t even know that but because it wasn’t allegelly. The kids were terrified because they didn’t know what to do. Scout was being hurt when it was happening, but the person that was really hurt was Jem because he had a bump on his head and his arm was hurt badly. Scout thought he wasn’t going to make it because it was so bad, later that night Bob Ewell was found killed. Everyone consented that it would be a good place for him in heaven.

TKAM #6

Dear Diary,

When my dad went to the court house, Jem, Dill and I had followed him to the court house because we wanted him to know what was happening. When the crowd had went down we had followed them in to the court house, when I had went inside the court house we didn't know where to go so we had went upstairs because we thought that's where we are supposed to go. We didn't want it to be so encumbered just so we won't see us, we had also noticed Reverend Sykes and a lot of colored people on the balcony. I wanted to sit next to him because I was scared to sit next someone I don't know or just letting stare because of my race. Reverend Sykes wanted us to sit next him because he wanted to tell us something to we had sat next to him. He had told us that we should be sitting down sitars where the white people sit at, but we had didn't know that we were supposed to be sitting right there.

We had noticed that the judge was judge Taylor, the trail had finally started and Mr. Gilmer, had ask questions to Heck Tate, about what happened on November 21, Bob Ewell told Heck that his daughter Mayella that she had been raped by Tom Robinson. He had also found bruisers and been beaten by him. Atticus had interrupt him when he was talking and had cross examined, him and ask him an question and said that “wasn't her bruisers on her right side on her face and not the left?” I knew that when he had ask that question he wanted Mr. Gilmer took really bad so he can get a good point out of it. Tate had left the stand and Mr. Gilmer was called up to the stand. Mr. Gilmer was talking about his side of his story, and he was saying that he seen Tom Robinson raping this innocent girl. I was thinking in my mind that I want all these people that was lying just to dispelled. Atticus had noticed that he storying was adding up right because he knew that something was making sense. Atticus had ask him some questions about what he had said to make sure what he said was true or not.

The next day we had continue the trial, and Mr. Gilmer had came back up to the stand finishing what was his story about. Atticus had cross examined him again, but instead he had brung up Mayella to the stand to to ask her questions about the scene. Atticus was talking to Mayella, saying that why was she just screaming and she knew that kids or adults wasn't going to do anything. Why didn't she just put up a better fight with him, because she was being complacently. Atticus was telling Mayella, that how could Tom Robinson bruise her on right side of her face if his left hand is useless. He knew that Mayella was going to crack and be so oblivious about the situation and be in a acquiescence. So she did and yelled out that Tom Robinson didn't do anything and she was lying to Maycomb. When I guess she wanted attention, but I guess she wasn't getting that. It wasn't up to Atticus that they may have won, but it was up to judge Taylor to decided but I hope my dad wins the trial because he did make some great points to what he said to all the witnesses.

TKAM #5

I am spending more time dealing with the Tom Robinson case and defending him so he can win the court case. My daughter Scout tries to tell me something but I was to busy to listen because of the court case. I knew she was mad at me because of that but I just couldn't talk to her at this time right now. When I wasn't bust to ask me these questions that were random to me and just out of the blew. She ask my sister Alexandria if she can go to Calpurnina church because they are having a children trip but she said that she didn't want Scout going back there. Scout had convince me to get rid or Calpurnina because she didn't want me to go that trip Scout really wanted to go on. I really tired my best to convince Calpurina to letting Scout go on this trip but minutes later that never did happen because she kept saying no to me. Later that night I Calpurnina had left my house and I had sent Scout and Jem to bed so they can get there rest for that night. Later that night Jem had call me to tell me something and he had told me that he needed some stuff and I had called Scout to get the the stuff Jem had wanted.

Since the trial is moving up, Tom Robinson has been move to the Maycomb Jail because it's closer to where he is going to be doing the court case at. I had noticed that the kids had been listening to the argument that Aunt Alexandria and I been arguing about the trial that's coming up soon. Alexandria had told me that I'm being a disgrace towards the family which so not true because I am defending this person because I believe that he never did that and since no one else would I'm going to be taking the responsibility of the trail. When I had left the house to see someone, because I had to handle some business and I had park my car in front of the jail house door to see Tom Robinson and get more information about him. These group of guys come out of the car and come up to me and wanted me to move from where I'm sitting.

Scout listening to what had Mr. Walter Cunningham illegal son what was taking about. Since scout was in her hiding place just listen to people, since she couldn't move because there were talking. I had walked by them and I see people I seen before because I didn't know if that was them or not. I was assuming that wasn't my kids and Dill hiding and a spot so no one can see them. When I had took twice that was them hiding I demanded they go home because this place wasn't a place where kids can be. They had went back home because the jail house was a dangerous place to be right at this time. Jem had turned around and refuse my demanded, one of the men who was right here at the time had gave me a 15 seconds response for saying that the kids have to leave by the time he was finish with the response he had said. Before he starting counting down I had told Jem things to make him leave because I didn't want the men to hurt one of my kids and Dill because I'm responsible for them and what happens with him. All of a sudden Jem had told me that I'll leave and I had told him we will discuss this later. Then they had left and I was proud for them for doing that.

TKAM #4

Dear Diary,
Today in Maycomb, Jem and I were walking and talking when we had seen an old sick down looking like it was going to die. We were both scared and didn’t know what to do but run away when we had ran away the old dog had followed us and I had ran to a phone post to call someone to help us. Because we didn’t know what to do but run I had ask Jem did he know anyone that has a phone on them and didn’t know anyone at all. When I finally called someone up and said that we didn’t help the person on the phone was a sheriff named Mr. Heck Tate. Jem and I had to run back to Jem house where we can be protected and safe shortly after we came to Jem’s house Atticus and the sheriff came and pulled up the drive way. One of the neighbors Mr. Finch wanted Atticus to shot the old mean dog named Tom Johnson because he was old. All of a sudden Atticus took out an air raffle and took ten minutes to aim for the dog. Then he shot him it was a moment of silence and Miss. Maudie was talking to Jem and Scout saying do you think your dad is a bad dad. The kids had taken back what they said about their dad because now he was known as one-shoe finch. The kids never knew about Atticus past until he told the kids. The kids were awfully surprised about their dad.
The next day while Jem and Scout was walking by Scout had said “Hello” to Mrs. Dubose and she had responded and told Scout to say to her “Good afternoon” Scout had a weird reaction to her face. Atticus had told Jem not to be rude to the old lady Mrs. Dubose because she’s old and doesn’t need to put up with that. When Mrs. Dubose had talked about Jem’s dad behind his back Jem had got so mad and went off when Mrs. Dubose told Atticus that he was disappointed in Jem because he had told Jem not to act like a kid but act like a gentleman. His punishment was to read to Mrs. Dubose every once in a month. The next day, Jem and Scout had came over and Jem had to read to her when Jem had sat down Mrs. Dubose had told him to move up so he can her hear Jem and not be so inaudible. Jem had started reading and he was wondering why Mrs. Dubose was acting strange like something was wrong with her. Jem couldn’t really tell because it was so inconspicuous a little bit. The next month Jem and came back over to read again to her and he made sure that he pay attention why Mrs. Dubose was doing that. He had noticed that Mrs. Dubose was morphine addicted and she tried to get off the stuff. Her doctor had gave her some pills to take but she didn’t want to take that either because she was being so cantankerous. A few days had pasted by and Mr. Dubose had died a few days back but Jem had noticed that she was a great lady if people would actually get to know her.
Couple a days has pasted and I had took Jem and Scout to church with me. Since Atticus went out of town and when they had came to church my old friend of mines had came up toward me and they kids. Saying “Why are this white people doing in this colored church?” Jem had felt so contradicted because of what Lula said about the kids. When the church had actually started Reverend Sykes had noticed that this was Atticus kids and we felt good and he was thankful that they came to this church. The reverend had started preachering to the church and was asking the church that does everyone know who their dads were. After a few minutes later the reverend was having a donation of $10 because he needed it for one of a church member who can’t support her kids right now. Since Helen husband was in jail because he was accused that he raped a white woman. So Helen needs to support her family right now. When they had got the money the reverend was thankful and so was Helen as well. Sincerely, Calpurnia

TKAM #1

Dear Diary,

Today at school this new teacher named miss. Caroline is a weird teacher. Because I was doing my work and I was just being me and this teacher says that I'm so smart and I should be dumb and not know anything. But I didn't want to follow that because I thought if I just be smart she would recognize me and just tell me I'm doing a great job. None of that happened and I was mad because she had said thats about me. What I didn't get is how this kid named Walter Cunningham is a poor kid who looks dirty can't afford anything and just looks awful and Miss. Caroline had afford him some money and Walter Cunningham can't expected it because he couldn't pay her back if he tried. I thought it was eccentric because she should have known by the way he dressings he is poor so I had told her what happened about Walter Cunningham. After that had happened we had went back into the class room and Miss. Caroline wanted me to tell my dad to stop teaching me how to read because he helps me to read and just be a better student but I couldn't tell my dad to stop helping me. When I went back home I went straight to my brother Jem Atticus known as “Jem” I had told him what happened on the first day of school. So I had told him about this new teacher Miss. Caroline I had told him that she is a strict teacher who wants dumb students that can't read or write and I learn things her way. Which I think is weird because I think that she should wants students that know things and can teach that to the class and sometimes that irked me all the time.
Later that day I had went to Walter Cunningham to find out more information about what does he do and what happens in his home and just get to know him as a friend. I had noticed when I first saw him that look dirty and he doesn't have clean nice shoes. He wasn't dirty as this boy named Burris Ewell and he has dirty hair that has the “cooties”which stands for cooties and I think that is gross but I didn't know what to tell the kid I wanted to say “ what the heck is up with your hair” but that would have been mean and I didn't want to be mean at all. After getting to know Walter my brother invited him over to have lunch at my house which I thought that wasn't a good idea at all because he is just going to be stinking up the house and that gross if you really picture that happening. I wanted to tell my brother that that is a wrong decision and he should had asked me about that but no he followed what he thinks. I was upset because I didn't want to be mean to Walter but I didn't want him to be coming over my house and eating everything in my house. When all of us walked over my house then in the kitchen I was very intimidation because I was scared he was going to be doing something wrong and awkward. When Jem gave him some veggies Walter had put some syrup on his veggies and I knew that something would go wrong and wouldn't seem right.
I was very irked because Walter was just eating his food all disgusting and when he put the syrup on his veggies I was grossed out about that because I noticed know one did that plus it was awkward. Then I had to condescended and it just bugged me about that. After he left my house I was thankful because it was weird how he came to my house getting veggies with syrup the whole process was weird but since he haven't ate for so long he will be that hungry. I had walked outside wondering about the next day and how it was going to be. Then my father had came outside wondering what I was doing because he knew that I wasn't looking to well. So I told him my problem and said “ I don't know if I wanna go to school” because Miss. Caroline hates me for being so smart and I can't be so dumb and not know everything so I can't do that. It will be better if you will teach me everything and I don't have to worry about Miss. Caroline hating me every second of the day. Always having to be so compromise every time with her.

TAKM #3

Dear diary,
Today my aunty wants me to become more of a lady and not a tom-boy anymore because she thinks that since I was born a girl I should stay as a girl and not act like a boy anymore. So she had blamed Atticus for all this since he raised me. Today at school I had got in a fight with this boy named Cecil Jacobs because he thinks that Atticus my dad defends “Niggers” which I know he doesn’t at all. When I went up to Atticus he was acquainted and I didn’t know what that word means so I had told him what does that mean he told me studying for a case. Then he told me more about this person named Tom Robinson which is a black man which is accused of raping a white lady. Atticus had told me he has to debate to keep this man protected and I was interested about this case. When I had went to the door because I had noticed this guy standing outside the door knocking I was wondering who can this guy be, when I opened the door it was my uncle named Jack which is Atticus brother he comes and visit us over the holidays To keep a touch with us.
When Atticus took all the kids to Atticus sister house, What I had realized I had to deal with this girl name Francis and she is boring kid I have ever met because she doesn’t even do anything. Then I had to deal with this girl named Alexandra which thinks I should wear a dress like girls and not wear pants because that’s like a guy would wear which I think is really weird. What I really got mad at is Francis because she had called Atticus a “nigger-lover” which I got mad and I beat him up for that. Because I know for a fact that he isn’t that at all Francis had told my uncle Jack something that was opposite of story so my uncle spank me without having to know my story which I think is jacked up. I had made a promise to Dill not to tell Atticus this story and ever since then Dill kept his promise.
Boo Radley was very isolate to his brother Nathan Radley until he had close up the hole in the tree in Boo Radley’s place. I had noticed when I and Jem were making a snowman that Boo Radley had started beening playful with us. Later that night Atticus had woke me up and told me to put on my bath robe to come outside because Miss. Maudie house was on fire. I noticed that Boo Radley was behind Miss. Maudie when she was talking to Atticus, Miss. Maudie was telling this story about Boo Radley how there was a knothole in this tree and how he is to entrusted something to happened. Miss. Maudie wishes that she can catch Boo Radley in act how he put the covers on me this one night.
